Fitting near you

Dash cam installation near me: what fitting actually costs, and how to get quotes

Professional dash cam installation near you costs somewhere between £30 and £150, depending on who fits it, whether it is hardwired or plugged into the 12V socket, and how awkward your car is to get behind the dash. Every figure behind that range is sourced and dated on this site, not invented for this page.

Here is what we can and cannot do for you today. We do not have installer partners signed in your area yet. This page will take your details, hold onto them, and pass your enquiry to a vetted local fitter as soon as one is signed near you. It gives you the sourced price range above until then, so you can judge any quote you already have.

We do not run a fitter directory yet. We are building one. What we will do is take the details below and pass them to vetted local fitters as we sign them, area by area. What we will not do is pretend a directory already exists, or invent a fitter to put in front of you. Until we have partners near you, the sourced price range above is the honest tool we can offer: use it to judge any quote you get from anyone.

Request a quote

Tell us about your car and what you need. We will hold your details and contact you as soon as we have a vetted fitter signed in your area.

So we can pass your enquiry to a fitter working in your area.

Fitting time and access vary a lot by car. This helps a fitter quote accurately.

Do you already have a camera?

If not, say so and a fitter can advise when they call.

Coverage

Front and rear roughly doubles the cabling and the labour.

Wiring

Not sure is fine. A fitter can advise once they see the car.

We will only use this to respond to your quote request.

This form is not accepting submissions yet, so nothing you type here would reach us. It goes live once local fitters are signed. In the meantime the sourced price range above is what you need to judge any quote you are given.

What to ask any fitter before you book

Which circuit will they tap?

A hardwire fit runs a fused feed from behind the fuse box. Get your fitter to tell you which circuit they intend to use before they start. One documented Halfords job tapped the airbag circuit instead of the cigarette lighter circuit, reported on PistonHeads on 19 July 2020. Putting it right cost the amount below.

Does the price include the hardwire kit?

The kit (the fuse taps, the voltage cut off, and the cabling) is a separate cost from labour. Ask whether it is already included in the quote or added on top.

Is there a call-out fee?

Fitters who come to you sometimes charge a call-out fee on top of their labour rate. Ask for the all-in total before you book, not just the hourly rate.

Questions

How much does dash cam installation near me cost?

Sourced figures on this site run from £30 for a local auto electrician to £150 for a four hour hardwire on a difficult car. We do not have vetted fitters signed in every area yet, so use this range to judge any quote you are given locally.

Do you have fitters near me yet?

Not yet, and we are not going to pretend otherwise. We are building a network of vetted local fitters. Submit your details below and we will contact you as fitters are signed in your area. In the meantime, the sourced price range on this page tells you whether a quote you already have is reasonable.

What should I ask a fitter before booking?

Ask which circuit they intend to tap for a hardwire fit, ask whether the quoted price includes the hardwire kit, and ask whether there is a call-out fee on top of labour. See the full explanation below, with sourced figures for each.

Will you email me anything other than my quote request?

No. We will only email you about the quote request you submit, and you can unsubscribe from any email in one click. We do not add you to a newsletter or share your details beyond the fitter your enquiry is passed to.
